Where does the time go!!

I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 months since we became a family!  Part of me feels like we’ve always been together and the other part feels like I would love to freeze time so it doesn’t go so quick.  In just these few short months she has grown and developed so much.  We love watching her learn new things and see her face light up when she figures something out.  She is such a happy and easy going child.  Here are some things that Rylan is now doing.

Walking!  Rylan started walking right after Christmas.  She is into everything, cabinets, dog bowls, toilet paper, make up bag, purse, anything you leave out, she gets into!

Rylan has learned several new words – she says dog, mom (and uses this for me), da-da or da which she always said from day one and knows it’s Frank.  She can point us and herself out in pictures.   She is always pointing out her Daddy and says “da” or if she hears the garage door open she says “da”.  She loves her da-da!  But she loves her Mommy too!  She stays right up under me….hanging on my leg.  If she is upstairs with her daddy she will yell for me over the banister “mom..mom” until I look up.  She can point to her nose, eyes, mouth, ears and belly.  She can say nose, eyes and mouth.  The other two, she just looks at you funny??
She can get her shoes and jacket if you ask her.  She still loves to take off her socks any chance she gets and can say socks – except it sounds like something totally inappropriate.  She also likes to stick her socks in her mouth??  She loves to wave!  She waves at everyone and anything.  She can say “bye bye”, “nite nite” and “nasty” – she has really started repeating a lot of words in the last 2 weeks!

She loves to EAT and loves to wave at her food!!!  She is such a good eater and I don’t think there is anything she doesn’t like.  She will go get her high chair and roll it into the kitchen and point to it and do the “eat” sign.  She can eat with her spoon but gets frustrated and will just start using her hands…it’s quicker for herJ.  She can sign “more”, “eat”, “all done” and “please”.  She can say “all gone” when she is done eating.  She also says “nanna” for banana.  She can say “cup” and knows what it is.  If I ask her where her cup is – she will go find it and bring it to me.  She can say “cookie”, “milk” and “nack” for snack.  As you can see most of the words she knows has to do with food J  She can find the smallest crumb on the floor….and dog food too!
She loves to take baths which is a change from when we first came home – she would cry the entire time.  She can say “bath” and “soap” – she understands when we say “wash yourself” or “wash your hands” – she will rub herself with the cloth or rub her hands together.  She likes to wash you too.  She is very independent and likes to do things and help out.  She is such a big girl!

She has her sassy moments, too.  If she is yelling or trying to get my attention – I will say “One minute” and she will put her finger to her mouth and say “sshhh”.  She will take things and hide them behind her back if she is not suppose to have it….then she will smile and give it back to me.  If she wants your attention and you are holding her but doing something else (like trying to get something out of the pantry, laundry, on the computer, etc) she will grab your face and turn it toward her so you are looking at her.  When she wants you to look at her she wants you to look at her (just like her momma!).  She is fearless also!  She is not afraid of anything and climbs on and under everything.  She keeps us on our toes.   She will say “no no no” and shake her finger at us.   She likes to run from us and has started slamming doors.  She will go in her room and slam the door….oh my, we are in big trouble.
Rylan is also the most loving child.  She will give you a hug or kiss without asking.  She loves to be held and will smile when you look at her.  If our eyes met, she will smile and wave “hi”….again, she loves to wave.  She will do this at the store or even with strangers.  She will hold and rock her baby and kiss her baby – she will say “bah” when she wants her baby.  She loves Elmo!!!  She says “mo” “mo” when she wants Elmo.  If you tell her you love her, she will blow you a kiss.  She kisses her toys and the dogs.  She loves to clap and claps at everything, whether it’s something good or not so good… It’s like she is always applauding herself (nothing wrong with that…I do it too J).  She is just a joy!  We can’t believe just how much she has brightened our world in such a short amount of time and we will be forever thankful for our beautiful blessing.

  1. So glad you updated. It's so funny to read this and think about NEylan. They are so much alike. We have to get them together! Glad all is going well. Have been wondering how you were doing.
