Catching Up

Where does the time go?  I feel like I have so much catching up to do!  It’s been almost two weeks since we’ve been a family but we feel like it’s been forever.  Rylan still shows us so much of her personality all the time.  Each day I feel like she grows so much in every way.  It seems like she is learning and changing so much!  We have made some major improvements with the car seat, baths and SLEEP!!!  Sleep was probably our biggest hurdle.  Everyone was jet lagged and her little body was still working on Korea time.  We finally had several nights in a row where she slept through the entire night!!!   I also had my first “AAWWWEE” moment when Rylan came to me and put her hands up for me to pick her up and called me Omma!!  (LOVED IT).  She still goes to both Frank and I very easily.  She loves it when her Daddy gives her, her bedtime bottle and rocks her to sleep.  Mommy gives the baths and gets her dressed in the mornings.  The weather has been great the last 2 days so we’ve been able to go out and play.  Rylan loves to be pushed in her wagon.  She loves to be outside!    

We had our first dr visit last week.  Rylan is 32” tall and almost 26 lbs!  She is 15 months and almost walking.  She can take about 5-6 steps before falling.  She drinks from a sippy cup and loves to try and feed herself.  She can wave bye bye and loves to play hide and seek/peekaboo. 

Rylan is doing great with the dogs!!  And they are doing great with her!!  We were expecting this to be a challenge but they took to each other immediately.  Gunner is more protective and follows her everywhere and will lie next to her where ever she is.  Bella comes up for a quick lick in the face until Rylan screams (like get away) and Bella goes and hides….then comes right back and does it again…..sometimes Rylan doesn’t mind eitherJ 

She loves to EAT!!  So far, there is nothing that she does not like.  She makes us laugh all the time.  She will imitate whatever you do.  She tells the dogs to “shhhsh”, she will bow if you tell her thank you or hello in Korean.  She makes the funniest noises and will pretend that she is coughing, and then when you look at her she will laugh.  She loves to hum!    

I call Rylan my non-girly girl.  She will not let me put a hair bow in (she immediately takes it out and throws it), doesn’t like her hair brushed, she is loud and loves to bang her toys together….then throw them.  She will not let me brush her teeth, she clenches her lips together so all I can brush are lips…. although last night after she saw me brush mine, she opened her mouth and let me do hers.  And she does not like to keep her socks and shoes on (already a southern girl).  And she likes to chew on her feet!  Yes, the girl can stick her feet in her mouth!  But she is also a gentle loving little girl.  She loves to be held and snuggled.  She loves to be kissed and loves to share.  She likes to feed us and the dogs her food and bottle (I have to draw the line with the dogs).  The dogs have learned to sit by her highchair for a possible food dropping or a hand that comes over the tray, being offered to be licked. 

The last 2 weeks have been amazing.  I never knew that I would wipe a dirty nose with my bare hands and then wipe it on my jeans or use my own sleeve!  I never thought I would love to kiss a slobbery mouth and slobber actually go in my mouth!  I never knew that I would lick my finger and then wipe her face and stick the finger back in my mouth to wipe some more!  I never thought I would pick someone’s nose in public and look and look to make sure everything was cleaned!  I never thought I would stick my finger in a possible dirty diaper to see if anything was on it or smell to see if someone “pooped”.  It’s amazing how motherhood changes you!   I can’t believe how much joy our little girl has brought to our lives in just a short amount of time ......I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in all the years to come!  We love you Rylan Elizabeth Yu-bin Trammer!!
